Discussing Busan’s Carbon Neutrality Strategy Centered on Distributed Energy and the Hydrogen Industry
Busan Research Institute, in collaboration with SK Innovation E&S, Busan City Gas, and Yonhap News Agency, will host the 9th Busan Initiative Forum (Busan-SK Happiness Forum) at BEXCO Convention Hall Rooms 201 and 202 in Busan on November 24.
The theme of the forum is "Busan's Carbon Neutrality Strategy Driven by Distributed Energy and the Hydrogen Industry." The event will discuss regional energy transition policies and ways to establish citizen-participatory governance.
The forum will begin with an opening address by Huh Yoonsu, Acting President of Busan Research Institute, followed by presentations: "Operation Plan for Busan's Distributed Energy Specialized Zone" by Hong Jinpyo, Head of the Energy Solution Business Team at Ensolve; "Strategy for Creating Hydrogen Ports and Import Terminals" by Kim Junghyun, Professor at the Hydrogen Ship Technology Center at Pusan National University; and "The Role and Future Prospects of Hydrogen Fuel Cells" by Kim Jungsook, Secretary General of the Korea Hydrogen Fuel Cell Industry Association.
The panel discussion will be chaired by Choi Yoonchan, Policy Committee Chair of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Regional Association of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, and will include experts from academia, industry, and research institutes, who will discuss implementation strategies for Busan-style carbon neutrality.
Acting President Huh stated, "This will be an important opportunity to discuss energy transition strategies tailored to regional characteristics and to establish citizen-participatory governance."
