Samsung Electronics is expanding its partnership with Hana Card to strengthen its competitiveness in mobile payments by enhancing the "Samsung Wallet" service.
On November 19, Samsung Electronics and Hana Card announced that they have signed a partnership memorandum of understanding (MOU) and will launch the new "Samsung Wallet Travel Affiliated Card" for travelers. This card is designed to offer a variety of benefits, including the accumulation of Samsung Wallet points when used.
The mobile ID service will also be enhanced. Samsung Electronics plans to develop a feature that allows students to register mobile student IDs from universities affiliated with Hana Card in Samsung Wallet. Once registered, students will be able to use their smartphones for campus gate access, library and reading room entry, and check card functions, enjoying the same services as a physical student ID.
Chae Wonchul, Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics Digital Wallet Team, said, "We will provide a convenient payment experience even overseas and enhance the convenience of campus life, ultimately delivering tangible benefits through Samsung Wallet points."
Sung Youngsoo, CEO of Hana Card, emphasized, "The convergence of mobile devices and traditional finance will create new synergies. We will deliver the best value and experience, from overseas payments to domestic transactions."
