Goseong County Launches Mentoring Program for 47 New Public Officials
Goseong County in Gangwon Province, a hub city for the peace economy, announced that it will operate a 'Mentor-Mentee Program' in the second half of the year to help new public officials adapt smoothly to the organization and strengthen their job competencies.
This program targets 47 newly appointed public officials in 2025. Senior officials with extensive experience at grade 7 or above will participate as mentors, forming one-on-one or one-to-three partnerships with the new officials to carry out mentoring activities.
The mentoring period will run from November 17, 2025, to January 23, 2026. Both mentors and mentees will receive an activity support fund of 50,000 won per person (provided as the Goseong Love Card). After the activities conclude, a results report is to be submitted by January 30.
The main components of the mentoring include: △ sharing practical work tips and on-the-job mentoring, △ supporting understanding of departmental and organizational culture, △ guiding public service etiquette such as handling civil complaints and communication, and △ promoting psychological stability and relationship building through volunteer and leisure activities.
Ham Myungjun, Mayor of Goseong County, stated, "The Mentor-Mentee Program is an important process that helps new public officials reduce the difficulties they face early in their careers and quickly adapt to county government work," adding, "We will continue to foster a collaborative organizational culture where staff members learn from and grow with each other."
Meanwhile, Goseong County expects that through this program, new public officials will deepen their understanding of local issues and participate stably in county administration, growing into talents who will drive the future development of the county government.
