The Urban Planning Committee is a statutory committee established under Article 113 of the National Land Planning and Utilization Act. It is responsible for deliberation and advisory roles regarding urban and county management plans, and consists of 25 experts in related fields such as urban planning, architecture, transportation, and landscaping.
This year, a total of 21 Urban Planning Committee meetings have been held, during which 96 agenda items, including urban planning and development permit approvals, were reviewed. The rates of approval as originally proposed or with conditions stood at 92%, with a 7% rate of re-deliberation and a 1% rejection rate.
At this workshop, topics included the committee’s operating methods and annual meeting schedule, considerations for deliberations to create a women-friendly city, and plans to incorporate key points raised during the development permit review process. The main contents of the Urban Planning Ordinance, which was amended in March, were also shared.
Meanwhile, one committee member actively suggested the need to establish a "paperless deliberation system," which has already been implemented in other local governments, and proposed operating meetings using laptops or tablets.
Gimpo City stated, "We will continue to strengthen the substance of the Urban Planning Committee by collaborating with relevant departments and employing various methods such as inviting guest speakers and providing opportunities for discussion."
