Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province will hire 20 additional child caregivers, known as "Idolbomi," by the end of this year to further its goal of becoming a city where it is easy to raise children.

According to the city on November 12, these newly recruited caregivers will be dispatched to households experiencing temporary childcare gaps due to reasons such as both parents working, business trips, or late-night work, providing child care services.

This is the second recruitment this year, following the hiring of 20 new caregivers in April.

This service is available for children aged from three months up to 12 years, for a minimum of two hours per day. In Jeonju, an average of about 700 households use the service each month.

Those wishing to become child caregivers must complete 120 hours of theoretical and practical training, as well as 16 hours of field training. After completing this training, applicants must pass a document screening, aptitude test, and final interview.

The application period runs until November 18. Applicants must visit the Jeonju Family Center, which provides child care services in the area, to submit their documents.

The caregiver training is conducted at the Jeonbuk Childcare Support Center and the Jeonju Women's Resources Development Center. Upon completion of the training and commencement of work, trainees can receive a full refund of their training fees through the "Tomorrow Learning Card" program.

However, those with professional qualifications in childcare, education, or healthcare may apply for the position without undergoing the pre-service training.

This year, the city has allocated a budget of 11.5 billion won to dispatch caregivers to dual-income, multi-child, and single-parent households, providing subsidies of up to 85% of usage fees depending on household income levels.

A city official stated, "We hope that this new recruitment of caregivers will reduce the number of households waiting for services, especially during high-demand times such as school commuting hours," adding, "We encourage citizens to show great interest and participate in the child care support program."
