To Be Held at Busan Library on November 14
The National Library of Korea announced on November 11 that it will hold the '2025 Regional On-site Briefing Session' at the Busan Library on November 14, targeting public libraries and related institutions in the Busan, Gyeongnam, and Gyeongbuk regions to promote the collection of regional materials.
This briefing session is designed to help on-site librarians understand the library's role in collecting and preserving regional materials and to gather related feedback. Regional materials refer to publications produced by local governments, public institutions, and private organizations, and include not only printed materials but also various types of online resources.
During the session, the role of the Regional Materials Collection Council, which is jointly operated by the National Library of Korea and regional representative libraries, as well as the regional materials collection system and collection methods, will be introduced. In addition, special lectures will be held on the topics of 'Regional Materials Collection and Libraries' and 'What It Means to Read Together' to strengthen practical capabilities.
On the same morning, a workshop for regional materials collection coordinators from regional representative libraries will be held as part of the Regional Materials Collection Council. The workshop will discuss ways to promote cooperation and the overall process of regional materials collection, and will share best practices from the Busan Library.
An official from the National Library of Korea stated, "Listening to the voices from the field is the most important factor in cooperation for regional materials collection," and added, "The National Library of Korea will continue to support regional materials collection activities and collaborative projects through close cooperation among institutions."
