The Seongbukcheon Stream area is known as a prominent ecological attraction in the city, featuring a rare colony of willows, a variety of birds such as egrets and herons, and abundant vegetation. Through this renovation, the district aimed to preserve the ecological value of Seongbukcheon Stream while improving accessibility to the embankment space, enabling citizens to experience the stream in more diverse ways.

The new space stretches from Bomun 2-gyo Bridge to Yongmun Bridge, and includes two north-side decks, one observation deck, and a garden walkway. With the addition of these resting areas where visitors can pause and view the stream from the embankment, the site is expected to become a popular spot for enjoying nature and relaxation during walks.

In particular, the new open waterfront route has diversified the flow of visitors, which was previously concentrated on the riverside trail, by spreading it to the embankment space. The connection to the nearby Seongbukcheon Caf? Street has also been strengthened, which is expected to help revitalize the local commercial district.

Lee Seungro, Mayor of Seongbuk District, stated, “Seongbukcheon Stream is a vital ecological resource where nature breathes within the city. I hope that this newly created open waterfront space will become a place where citizens can enjoy the changes of the seasons and experience a more relaxed daily life.”
