Hana Financial Group announced on the 10th that it held a proclamation ceremony marking the start of the ESG festival "2025 Modu Hana Day," which has become a cherished tradition for the group, along with the "Love Kimchi Sharing" event at the Hana Financial Group Myeongdong headquarters.
"Modu Hana Day" is Hana Financial Group's flagship ESG initiative, which began on November 11, 2011, and is now in its 15th year. For about two months, until January 11, 2026, all employees will participate in various volunteer activities to fulfill the social responsibility of finance.
This year, in particular, marks the 20th anniversary of the group's establishment and the 10th anniversary of the bank’s integration. The group has further strengthened its commitment to social responsibility by practicing sharing, sharing the year's achievements in social value with employees, and holding a kimchi-making event for vulnerable groups.
The event was attended by Chairman Ham Youngjoo, CEOs and executives of each affiliate, members of the Hana Family Love Volunteer Group, and spouses of employees. In addition, around 250 people, including Bae Sungwoo, Head of Lotte Wellfood, joined to participate in Hana Financial Group’s sincere sharing efforts.
Ham Youngjoo, Chairman of Hana Financial Group, stated, "With a spirit of inclusion and sincerity, we will deliver warmth to neighbors in need," adding, "We will continue to seek out vulnerable groups who need help, provide practical support, and take the lead in spreading Hana Financial Group’s culture of sharing."
The "2025 Modu Hana Day" proclamation ceremony began with a celebratory performance by "Dream With Ensemble," the nation’s first professional ensemble composed of individuals with developmental disabilities.
This proclamation ceremony was held under the theme "One of Inclusion, One of Sincerity," reflecting Hana Financial Group’s intention to provide practical support to those in need throughout society.
At this event, the group shared its ongoing social contribution projects for small business owners, seniors, people with disabilities, youth, children and adolescents, and local communities. In particular, the group highlighted: ▲ environmental improvement and business recovery support for small business owners, including those who have closed or are planning to close their businesses; ▲ lunchbox production and support projects to create jobs for seniors; ▲ integrated life-cycle support for children with disabilities; ▲ a financial education agreement with the Financial Supervisory Service; and ▲ lunchbox support for children caring for family members. The group also shared this year’s major achievements in creating social value and declared its commitment to further sharing initiatives.
After the proclamation ceremony, executives, employees, and guests continued the group’s cherished tradition by holding the 15th annual "Love Kimchi Sharing" event in front of the main gate of the Hana Financial Group Myeongdong headquarters. All employees from the group’s affiliates participated in making kimchi with love and care, stuffing seasoning into salted cabbages.
After the kimchi-making event, Chairman Ham Youngjoo and employees took a "Goyohan M Taxi," which employs hearing-impaired drivers and contributes to job creation, to visit "Youngnak Borinwon," a social welfare foundation in Huam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, where they delivered the kimchi made with employees' care and dedication.
Hana Financial Group will run the "Everyone’s Donation Campaign," an ESG activity to promote zero-waste and a culture of sharing with customers and employees, until January 11, 2026.
First, anyone can easily participate in donating items such as clothing, dolls, and bags through the Hana Bank’s main mobile app, "Hana One Q," or by using the clothing donation boxes installed in the lobbies of group buildings (Myeongdong, Euljiro, Gangnam, Yeouido, and Cheongna). Donated items are sorted and sold, with all proceeds going to children from vulnerable groups.
Additionally, the group has installed "Donation Kiosks" in the lobbies of its buildings, allowing for donations of 1,000 won per transaction via card payment. These donations will provide nutritious meals for children who care for sick parents or grandparents and face challenging circumstances.
Furthermore, as the year-end approaches, Hana Financial Group will launch the "Hana Santa Campaign" to collect individuals’ small acts of kindness and spread the group’s positive influence. This campaign, which involves both customers and employees, invites participants to share their acts of kindness, just as they would write letters to Santa Claus as children. Hana Financial Group will then deliver "Hana Santa" gifts to vulnerable groups on behalf of the participants. Customers can participate by posting on their personal social media accounts, and further details about the event can be found on Hana Financial Group’s social media channels.
