Han Donghoon: "Dropping Appeal for President Lee? They All Belong in Prison"

"Abandoning the Appeal Is an Act of Suicide by the Prosecution Following Illegal Orders"
"They Should Have Refused Like the Martial Law Soldiers on December 3"

Former People Power Party leader Han Donghoon strongly criticized the prosecution's decision to abandon the appeal in the Daejang-dong development corruption case, stating, "All those involved in the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, and the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, who gave the dirty and illegal order to drop the appeal for the sake of one person, Lee Jaemyung, should go to prison." He harshly condemned the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office for its decision not to appeal the first trial verdict for the private operators involved in the Daejang-dong case.

Han Donghoon: "Dropping Appeal for President Lee? They All Belong in Prison" Former People Power Party leader Han Donghoon strongly criticized the prosecution's decision to abandon the appeal in the Daejang-dong development corruption case.

On the previous day, the 8th, Han posted on his Facebook page, "Even the current prosecutors in charge, who are now whining after everything has ended, should be punished." He further stated, "That is how it will end up. Why should the public oppose abolishing a prosecution that, like a dog following orders from those in power, gives up an appeal in such a manner?" He intensified his criticism. In another post, he commented on Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Chief Jung Jinwoo's offer to resign, saying, "I hear that the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office chief, who followed the illegal order from the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Justice, and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to drop the appeal, is belatedly submitting his resignation. What is the point of doing this after everything is over?"

He added, "Just as the young martial law soldiers refused on the night of December 3 last year, there is no obligation to follow illegal orders, and refusing them is the duty of a public official." He emphasized, "Stop whining. By following illegal orders, you have already committed a crime."

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office did not appeal the first trial verdict for Kim Manbae, who was indicted on charges of aggravated breach of trust under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, and for Yoo Donggyu, former head of the Seongnam Development Corporation, as well as other private operators involved in the Daejang-dong case. The Supreme Prosecutors' Office had at one point considered an appeal, but it is reported that the Ministry of Justice expressed the opinion that it was unnecessary, leading to a decision to prohibit the appeal. In response, opposition parties have criticized the move as "obstruction of a power-related investigation and an act of suicide for the prosecution."

Previously, immediately after the appeal deadline expired, Han also posted, "At midnight on November 8, the prosecution of the Republic of Korea committed suicide," again criticizing the prosecution.
