Christmas Tree and Santa Village Decorations
Citizen Participation Festival Also Planned
Gwangsan District in Gwangju is launching the "Most Beautiful Station in December" project to transform Gwangju Songjeong Station into a winter-themed emotional hotspot. The plan is to present a year-end cultural space where citizens can linger and enjoy, featuring a large Christmas tree, a Santa Village, and various cultural events.

According to Gwangsan District on November 7, starting this month, the area around Gwangju Songjeong Station Square will be decorated as a "Santa Village" filled with illuminated installations. Photo zones, including a large Christmas tree, gift boxes, Santa's house, and a carriage, will be set up and unveiled at the lighting ceremony scheduled for the 15th. Every evening until January next year, the square will be lit up, providing a space where citizens can create lasting memories.
The district is also preparing citizen-participation events and performances, as well as other cultural activities, utilizing the "Most Beautiful Station in December" theme. In particular, on December 20, just before Christmas, the "Most Beautiful Station Festival" will be held along Gwangsan-ro, featuring a parade, performances by different generations, and hands-on activities.
Park Byungkyu, the head of Gwangsan District, stated, "We hope Gwangju Songjeong Station will be reborn as a cultural landmark where people can stay and enjoy, rather than just pass through," adding, "We will make every effort to ensure it becomes the best spot for memorable photos for citizens this winter."
