A man in his 20s who attempted to lure an elementary school student through a chat app for sexual exploitation was chased by a YouTuber known for exposing such crimes and fled to a police substation, where he was subsequently apprehended by the police.
On November 6, the Gyeyang Police Station in Incheon announced that they had booked a man in his 20s, identified as A, without physical detention on charges including forcible molestation.
A is accused of meeting an elementary school student, identified as B, in the early morning hours in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, and molesting her inside his car. He reportedly met B through an open chat room with the intent of arranging a compensated dating encounter, picked her up in his vehicle, and drove with her. During this process, a YouTuber who produces content exposing underage prostitution followed them. Feeling anxious, A fled to a police substation in Gyeyang-gu.
The police stated that, based on B's testimony that "A molested me inside the car," they brought A in for questioning and later released him.
A police official said, "A came to the police substation himself, claiming he suspected a compensated dating scam. We plan to investigate the detailed circumstances of the incident."
