Seizure of Assets Worth 100 Million Won
'From premium whiskey to excavators and even trucks.' This is the list of items seized by Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province during its collection activities targeting high-value tax delinquents last month.
On November 5, Yongin City announced that it had conducted home searches targeting high-value tax delinquents throughout October and collected approximately 100 million won in overdue taxes.

This collection effort was carried out jointly with the Gyeonggi Provincial Government to recover overdue local taxes, such as acquisition and registration license taxes. The city explained that the operation was intensified through joint searches with the National Tax Service's Central Regional Office.
During the collection process, the city, together with the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, identified the locations of vehicles and conducted home searches. As a result, they forcibly towed not only high-end imported vehicles owned by the delinquents but also machinery, excavators, and trucks. Through the home searches, they collected over 53 million won and seized 10 luxury bags.
Additionally, in a joint home search with the Central Regional Office of the National Tax Service and the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, they seized a total of 40 items, including approximately 10 million won in cash, about 5 million won in foreign currency, luxury bags, premium whiskey, and jewelry.
In Buyeo County, South Chungcheong Province, where delinquent taxpayer A resides, city officials met with A’s family. The family, citing current business difficulties, agreed to auction off two high-end imported vehicles instead of paying the overdue taxes.
For taxpayer B, who owed 200 million won in taxes, the city conducted three separate searches in areas where B’s machinery was believed to be located. They discovered and forcibly towed one excavator and one vehicle.
Taxpayer C, who owed 56 million won, paid 28 million won on the spot when the city began the home search and promised to pay the remaining amount in installments.
Taxpayer D, who owed 95 million won, claimed to be struggling as a construction day laborer. However, it was confirmed that D was operating a similar business under a spouse’s name after closing their own business. The city conducted a home search at the spouse’s apartment, seizing jewelry and foreign currency worth about 5 million won, 40 high-end luxury bags, and collecting 10 million won in cash.
A city official stated, "We will continue to work closely with relevant agencies to conduct thorough investigations and on-site tracking of high-value and habitual tax delinquents."
