Gyeonggi Province dispatched a trade promotion team to Japan and achieved export consultations totaling 124.55 million US dollars.
Gyeonggi Province announced on November 4 that, from October 27 to 31, it dispatched the "2025 Gyeonggi Province K-Beauty Japan Trade Promotion Team" to Tokyo and Osaka in cooperation with the Korea International Trade Association. The team held a total of 139 consultation meetings and achieved export consultation results amounting to 124.55 million US dollars.
As of 2024, Japan ranks second in its cosmetics market (with a market share of about 25%) due to the spread of Korean Wave content and the growing awareness of K-Beauty quality and brands.
In particular, as the consumption trend among Japanese consumers shifts toward "low-irritation, functional, and clean beauty" products, the Japanese market is emerging as a promising opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises in Gyeonggi Province with technological prowess and competitive product quality.

An official from Cosco Co., Ltd., which recently launched a new cosmetics brand, said, "We have mainly focused on food trade so far, but after COVID-19, as transactions decreased, we needed a new breakthrough. Through this project, we developed a cosmetics brand for the first time and challenged ourselves to enter the Japanese market. Meeting local buyers in person allowed us to confirm the competitiveness of our products."
Park Kyungseo, Director of International Trade at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This trade promotion team provided an opportunity for local companies to directly demonstrate their technological capabilities and brand competitiveness, even under the strict quality standards of Japanese buyers. Companies in the province were able to develop product strategies that align with local consumer trends and expand their connections with distribution networks."
