Fire breaks out in Myeonmok-dong semi-basement unit at 5 a.m.
56 firefighters and 18 pieces of equipment mobilized
A fire broke out in a semi-basement of a detached house in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, resulting in the death of a man in his 60s.
According to fire authorities, at around 5:15 a.m. on November 2, a fire occurred in a semi-basement unit of a detached house in Myeonmok-dong, Jungnang-gu, Seoul.
The fire authorities mobilized 56 personnel and 18 pieces of equipment, and fully extinguished the blaze by approximately 5:47 a.m., about 30 minutes later.
As a result of the fire, two men in their 60s who were inside the house were transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest. Of the two, one died while receiving treatment. Two other residents living in a different unit evacuated on their own.
A police official stated, "No criminal suspicion has been found so far," adding that the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
