The United States and China have agreed to establish a communication channel between their military authorities to prevent accidental clashes.
On November 1 (local time), U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated on X (formerly Twitter), "I have agreed with Dong Jun, China's Minister of National Defense, that we must establish a military-to-military channel to prevent conflicts and to de-escalate tensions should any issues arise."
Secretary Hegseth also said, "I just spoke with President Trump, and we agreed that U.S.-China relations have never been better than they are now."
He added, "Minister Dong and I agreed that the best path for our two great and powerful nations is peace, stability, and friendly relations," and continued, "May God bless both China and the United States."
President Trump also stated on Truth Social that day, "The G2 (Group of Two) summit with President Xi was excellent for both our countries. This summit will lead to lasting peace and success."
