"LG Twins Nears 8 Billion Won Windfall: Record-High Championship Dividend Plus Bonus"

Dividend and Parent Company Bonus Near 8 Billion Won
Corporate MVP Award Remains Undisclosed

The LG Twins, who clinched the Korean Series (KS) championship after two years, will receive the largest championship dividend in history.

"LG Twins Nears 8 Billion Won Windfall: Record-High Championship Dividend Plus Bonus" On the 31st of last month, at Daejeon Hanwha Life Insurance Ballpark, during Game 5 of the 2025 KBO League postseason Korean Series between the LG Twins and the Hanwha Eagles, the victorious LG Twins players are tossing LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop into the air in celebration. On November 1, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced that all 16 postseason (PS) games this year-including two Wild Card games, four Semi-Playoff games, five Playoff games, and five KS games-were sold out, attracting a total of 335,080 spectators. Ticket sales revenue alone amounted to approximately 15.7 billion won, which is 1.1 billion won more than last year’s record-breaking 14.7 billion won in PS ticket sales revenue.

The revenue is distributed among the five teams that advanced to the PS, in accordance with Article 47 of the KBO League regulations. After deducting all event-related expenses, the KBO allocates the remaining amount to the five clubs. These expenses are estimated to account for about 43-45% of the total revenue. If calculated at 44%, the dividend pool is approximately 8.8 billion won.

The regular season champion first receives 20% of the dividend. Of the remaining amount, 50% goes to the KS champion, 24% to the KS runner-up, 14% to the Playoff loser, 9% to the Semi-Playoff loser, and 3% to the Wild Card loser.

For the LG Twins, who also won the regular season, they are expected to receive about 1.76 billion won for the regular season and about 3.52 billion won as the KS champion’s dividend. In total, the amount they will receive for this season’s achievements is approximately 5.28 billion won.

Two years ago, when LG last won the championship, they reportedly received 2.94 billion won in dividends and 1.47 billion won as a championship bonus, totaling 4.41 billion won.

In addition to the KBO championship dividend, a significant bonus from the parent company is expected. According to the bonus regulations of the KBO and its ten clubs, the parent company of the championship team can award a bonus of up to 50% of the total dividend to the club. If LG Group provides the maximum bonus, the club would receive an additional 2.64 billion won. Combining the dividend and the parent company’s championship bonus, the club would receive about 7.92 billion won, which the LG Twins are expected to distribute as bonuses to players and front office staff.

Kim Hyunsoo, who was named KS Most Valuable Player (MVP), will receive not only an electric vehicle as an official KBO League award, but also a separate reward or prize from the club. Two years ago, when LG won the Korean Series, series MVP Oh Jihwan received a high-end Rolex wristwatch left by the late Chairman Koo Bon-moo. However, it has not been disclosed what kind of reward plan LG submitted ahead of this season.

Meanwhile, if the event-related expenses are calculated at 44%, the KS runner-up Hanwha Eagles will receive 1.69 billion won, the Playoff loser Samsung Lions will receive 990 million won, the Semi-Playoff loser SSG Landers will receive 630 million won, and the Wild Card loser NC Dinos will receive 210 million won, respectively.
