Seocho District Ranks First in Korea’s Basic Local Government Brand Reputation for October

Significant Increases in Participation, Communication, and Media Indices

Seocho District in Seoul (District Mayor Seongsoo Jeon) ranked first in the Republic of Korea's basic local government brand reputation index for October this year.


According to an analysis by the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute, which examined 342.84 million big data entries for 226 basic local government brands from September 30 to October 31, Seocho District took the top spot with a brand reputation index of 7,545,770. Gangnam District came in second with 7,321,069, followed by Yeongdeungpo District in third with 5,724,477.

This reputation evaluation index was calculated by combining four indicators: participation index, media index, communication index, and community index. Seocho District recorded a participation index of 326,262, a media index of 1,154,253, a communication index of 2,783,877, and a community index of 3,281,379. Compared to September, its brand reputation index surged by 119.65%, demonstrating rapid growth.


Koo Changhwan, Director of the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute, stated, "Although brand consumption for Seocho District saw a slight decline compared to last month, significant increases in brand issues, communication, and diffusion indices led to an overall rise in the reputation index." He analyzed, "This was due to active communication with residents and expanded media exposure, which had a positive impact."


Seocho District continues to enhance social value and build a strong brand image through ongoing efforts to improve residents' quality of life and implement various cultural and welfare policies.


Meanwhile, the top ten included Gangnam District, Yeongdeungpo District, Songpa District, Goyang City, Suwon City, Jongno District, Cheongju City, Changwon City, and Geumcheon District. The Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute assessed that interest and participation in local government brands are expanding overall, as the volume of basic local government brand big data increased by 10.82% compared to the previous month.
