Yeongju City Promotes Excellence of Local Agricultural Specialties at 'Food Week Korea'

Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province is participating in the 20th Food Week Korea, held at COEX in Seoul from October 29 to November 1, 2025, to promote the excellence of its local agricultural specialties and lay the foundation for expanding sales channels.

Food Week Korea, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and COEX and organized by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, is the largest food industry exhibition in the country. This year, 950 companies from 42 countries participated, and approximately 65,000 people visited the event.

Four leading companies from the Yeongju area took part in this event: Hanbugak, Jayeonideun, Yeongju Agricultural Products Distribution Center, and Sobaek Ginseng Agricultural Cooperative Corporation.

Hanbugak showcased chili pepper, potato, and eggplant bugak; Jayeonideun presented processed bellflower root products; Yeongju Agricultural Products Distribution Center featured apples; and Sobaek Ginseng Agricultural Cooperative Corporation introduced red ginseng products, all of which attracted significant attention from visitors.

At the booth, tasting events and product giveaways were held, drawing a steady stream of visitors. In particular, apples, bugak snacks, and bellflower root products recorded high sales, receiving praise from consumers in the Seoul metropolitan area for their outstanding quality.

Kim, a resident in their 30s from Gangseo-gu, Seoul, said, "Yeongju apples have a rich aroma and a crisp texture-they are definitely different. I didn't expect local specialties to be of such high quality. I hope they become easily available for online purchase."

Lee, an office worker in their 40s from Bundang-gu, Seongnam, commented, "It was my first time trying bugak, and it was light and savory. The packaging is sophisticated, making it a great gift option. I hope events like this provide more opportunities for local farmers and consumers to connect directly."

Yeongju City assessed that this participation allowed metropolitan area consumers to directly experience the quality and reliability of Yeongju's agricultural specialties, and that it provided practical support for participating companies to secure direct sales channels and increase revenue.

The city plans to further refine its distribution strategies and marketing direction based on feedback from the event.

Kang Maeyoung, Director of Distribution Support, stated, "Through this exhibition, Yeongju agricultural products have been recognized for both their quality and trustworthiness. We will strengthen promotional activities centered on the metropolitan area to help increase the actual income of local farmers and revitalize the regional economy."
