Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, emphasized the special relationship with Korea by recalling his long-standing connection with the late Lee Kun-hee, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, at the Nvidia graphics card (GPU) 'GeForce' 25th anniversary launch event held at COEX on October 30.


CEO Huang said, "In 1996, I received a very beautiful letter from Korea, but I did not know who had sent it," adding, "That letter turned out to be from Chairman Lee Kun-hee, and it was the reason I first visited Korea."

He added, "Chairman Lee Kun-hee had a vision to 'connect all Koreans through broadband,' 'change the world through video games,' and 'host the first video game Olympics.' These ideas align with the direction Nvidia is now pursuing."


The event was also attended by Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, and Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group. Chairman Lee said, "I sincerely congratulate you on the successful 25th anniversary event," and added, "There have been ups and downs, but we have remained steadfast partners." He continued, "Jensen is the greatest innovator and manager, and above all, a personally charming friend," which brought smiles to the event.


Chairman Chung also said, "When I was young, I enjoyed arcade games, and now my son plays League of Legends," adding, "Of course, it runs on Nvidia chips." He stated, "Going forward, we will deepen our collaboration by integrating robotics technology into automobiles," and predicted, "There will be a world where people can enjoy even more games inside cars."

CEO Huang revealed, "Tomorrow, the president will make an amazing announcement," and added, "We are preparing an amazing thing for Korea."


This event was organized to commemorate the 25th anniversary since Nvidia introduced 'GeForce' to the Korean market in 1999. On the same day, CEO Huang enjoyed Korean-style 'chimaek' (chicken and beer) culture at the 'Kkanbu Chicken' restaurant in Samseong-dong with Chairman Lee and Chairman Chung before heading to COEX.
