320 Athletes from 27 Countries to Compete
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province will host the "2025 Iksan Victor Korea Masters Badminton Championships" at the Wonkwang University Culture and Sports Center from December 4 to 9.
According to the city on October 30, this tournament is approved by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), organized by the Badminton Korea Association, and supervised by the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Badminton Association.
The total prize money amounts to 240,000 US dollars (approximately 340 million Korean won), with 320 athletes from 27 countries around the world set to compete fiercely. Notably, in addition to the matches, a national team autograph session for citizens and badminton fans will also be held, drawing attention.
On December 8 at 2 p.m., An Seyoung, the world’s top-ranked women’s singles player, and Seo Seungjae and Kim Wonho, the world’s top-ranked men’s doubles players, will participate in a fan signing event. On December 9, at 1 p.m., Kong Heeyong, the world’s No. 3 women’s doubles player, will meet fans, followed at 2 p.m. by Kang Minhyuk and Ki Dongju, ranked 23rd in men’s doubles, and Jung Naeun and Lee Yeonwoo, ranked 22nd in women’s doubles.
Among these, An Seyoung, Seo Seungjae, Kim Wonho, and Kong Heeyong will not compete in this tournament, but they will join the autograph sessions to express their gratitude for the fans’ support.
Spectators can purchase tickets through NOL Ticket (formerly Interpark Ticket), with seat prices ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 Korean won. The matches will also be broadcast live on the SPOTV channel, accompanied by promotional videos for Iksan City. The city has requested the cooperation of visitors, such as using public transportation, as traffic congestion is expected during the tournament and fan signing periods.
Mayor Jung Heon-yul stated, "We expect the status of Iksan as a sports city to be further elevated through this tournament, which is drawing the attention of badminton fans worldwide," adding, "We will actively support the athletes so they can perform at their best."
