Wanju County in North Jeolla Province will host the "2025 Wanju Stay Samnye Brunch Festa" together with the Wanju Cultural Foundation (Executive Director Jeong Cheolwoo) on November 1 at the Samnye Book Village area.
According to the county on October 30, this event will bring together local artists and small business owners, creating a multi-cultural festival that fuses art, gastronomy, and knowledge. It is expected to serve as a model for regionally specialized content that spreads the unique sensibility and charm of Samnye in Wanju.
The "Brunch Festa" is being held as part of the Jeonbuk Luxury Tourist Destination Project. In particular, Samnye-eup, located near Woosuk University, is an area where young people, residents, and merchants coexist, and there is strong demand for cultural events that everyone can enjoy together.
The county has designed this festival as a local cultural event that fosters mutual growth between residents and merchants, reflecting the characteristics of the region. On the day of the event, the Samnye Book Village area will be transformed into a multi-cultural space filled with the autumn atmosphere, featuring brunch, book talks, performances, and hands-on experiences. Utilizing the emotional spaces of the Book Village, a variety of exhibitions will be held at the Book Museum and Picture Book Art Museum, including "100 Years of Korean Book Design" and "Dreamland Fairy - Naomi Heather Illustration Exhibition." Brunch menus and experiential programs based on Wanju’s local food will also be offered.
In particular, the "Sandwich Cooking Class" received significant attention, with over 80 applicants for just 24 spots, resulting in early registration closure. As a regular program, this class allows participants to make brunch using local ingredients from Wanju, and it is expected to become a signature content experience where people can appreciate the value of local agricultural products and culinary culture.
Main programs include: ▲ A talk show featuring former MBC producer and YouTube creator Choi Byeol, CEO of "Oneuleun" ▲ A brunch cooking class using local food ingredients ▲ Retro music time with a DJ ▲ Busking performances (Kyo, Haengronan, Goni Band) ▲ Flea market and photo zone operations, among other diverse content.
Jeong Cheolwoo, Executive Director of the Wanju Cultural Foundation, stated, "Through this event, we aim to introduce new tourism content that combines Wanju Samnye’s local food and cultural arts, and to establish a sustainable regional cultural model where local artists and small business owners grow together."
County Governor Yoo Heetae said, "I hope that through this festival, where books, art, and gastronomy come together, Samnye will establish itself as a cultural and artistic tourist destination filled with emotion and creativity. I also hope it becomes a festival where local residents and visitors can enjoy and grow together."
