Minho Choi, Mayor of Sejong City, attended the 3rd Korea-China Provincial Governors Growth Meeting held in Seoul on the 29th, where he strengthened cooperation and friendship between local governments of Korea and China.

The Korea-China Provincial Governors Growth Meeting was co-hosted by the Governors Association of Korea and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Five Chinese local governments participated in the meeting: Jiangxi Province, Shanghai City, Liaoning Province, Heilongjiang Province, and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

On the Korean side, six regions participated, including Sejong City, Incheon Metropolitan City, Gwangju Metropolitan City, Jeollanam-do Province, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and Seoul Metropolitan City (represented by the Deputy Mayor).

During the session, Mayor Choi actively introduced Sejong City’s future strategies and vision by presenting the background of the city’s establishment, its plans to become the administrative capital, and its initiatives related to smart cities and garden cities.

In addition to Mayor Choi’s presentation, the meeting featured sessions where each Korean and Chinese city introduced their unique strengths and current urban development status, providing an opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and share best practices among the cities.

After the session, all participants, including mayors, deputy mayors, vice governors, and vice chairpersons from each city, signed a joint Korea-China statement, agreeing to establish a new framework for cooperation to promote future development.

The city plans to continue actively seeking opportunities to explore development directions with overseas local governments and to strengthen its international standing.

Mayor Choi stated, "I hope that exchanges and cooperation between local governments of Korea and China will gain further momentum through the upcoming Korea-China summit at APEC."
