Dedicated 24-Hour Customer Center for Affected Customers...
Text Notification in the First Week of November
Free "KT Safe and Secure Insurance" Provided for Three Years
KT announced an additional compensation plan for customers on October 29, following recent incidents of small-sum payment fraud. Previously, KT had stated that it would provide full reimbursement for affected customers and waive early termination fees for those who switch carriers. This time, KT has added more substantial compensation benefits, including discounts on communication fees and device replacement.
KT will provide customers confirmed to have suffered small-sum payment fraud or data breaches with 100GB of free data per month for five months. Additionally, customers can choose between a 150,000 won discount on their communication fees or a discount on device purchase when replacing their device.
The communication fee discount will be deducted from the monthly mobile bill, while the device replacement discount will be applied as an additional discount on top of the existing contract discount when changing to a new device through KT.
The company will operate a dedicated 24-hour customer service center until the compensation process is complete, and will send an additional text notification to eligible customers during the first week of November.
KT will convert approximately 2,000 stores nationwide into "Safe and Secure Specialty Stores" and will provide affected customers with free "KT Safe and Secure Insurance" for three years, ensuring compensation in the event of telecommunication financial fraud.
KT is currently actively cooperating with the joint public-private investigation team and plans to continue implementing concrete measures to strengthen security.
