The announcement of the preferred private consortium for the K-Culture Valley project, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kintex Exhibition Hall 3, and the opening ceremony for the Northern Gyeonggi AI Campus all took place. The simultaneous launch of these three pillars-culture, industry, and AI technology-was unprecedented in Goyang's history and symbolically demonstrated the city's rapid transformation into a global self-sustaining city.

Both Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, and Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, attended the events, showcasing their commitment to close cooperation.

After the cancellation of the CJ LiveCity project in 2024, the K-Culture Valley project, which had been adrift for over a year, found a new starting point. Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Development Corporation (GH) announced that it had selected a consortium led by Live Nation Entertainment, the world's largest concert promoter, and Live Nation Korea as the preferred negotiation partner.

Since signing a major performance hosting agreement with Goyang City in September last year, Live Nation has successfully held concerts by Coldplay and Oasis in Goyang this year. Once a basic agreement is signed between GH and the Live Nation consortium, construction is scheduled to resume in May 2026, with completion expected by the end of 2029.

On the same day, the groundbreaking ceremony for Kintex Exhibition Hall 3 was also held. With a total project cost of 672.6 billion won, the third exhibition hall will combine with the existing Halls 1 and 2 for a total area of 170,000 square meters-over five times the size of Seoul COEX-and will be capable of hosting world-class exhibitions such as CES. Upon completion, it is expected to generate an annual production inducement effect of 6 trillion won and create 30,000 jobs.

Based on this, Goyang City plans to become a hub city for the global MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) industry.

The Northern Gyeonggi AI Campus, the first tangible achievement of Goyang's "AI-nomics" policy, opened at the Changjo Innovation Campus in Deogyang District. This was achieved just six months after being selected for a Gyeonggi Province public offering in April this year.

Goyang City has signed agreements with global companies such as Amazon Web Services, Cisco, IBM, NAVER Cloud, and Microsoft to foster practical AI talent. The campus will serve as a technology hub in Northern Gyeonggi, combining AI research, startups, and the data industry.

With these three "engines" of culture, industry, and technology set in motion, Goyang City is expected to accelerate its growth into a global self-sustaining city leading Korea's culture and industry.

Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, stated, "A city can only be self-sustaining when culture, industry, and technology move together. Today's three sites have clearly shown that direction." He also assessed, "G-nomics, which will be responsible for Goyang's future, is becoming a reality."

Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, responded, "I am grateful to Goyang City, a major pillar of Gyeonggi's development, and I will repay the citizens of Goyang with positive results."
