Chinese Delegation Attends Seongnam International Bio Healthcare Convention
Discusses Expansion of Economic and Industrial Cooperation with Mayor Seong Sangjin
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Seong Sangjin) announced on the 24th that a delegation from Huizhou City, China-its international sister city-visited the region to attend the Seongnam International Bio Healthcare Convention. The delegation, led by Vice Mayor Duan Zhihui, consisted of a total of six members.

This visit marks the first official exchange event since Seongnam City and Huizhou City elevated their relationship by signing a sister city agreement in June this year, following the friendly cooperation agreement established in 2016. The visit was made at the invitation of Seongnam City.
The Huizhou City delegation, including Vice Mayor Duan Zhihui, visited the Seongnam Global Convergence Center (Siheung-dong), the venue of the Seongnam International Bio Healthcare Convention, at 2 p.m. on October 23.
During the opening ceremony of the convention, Duan Zhihui, Vice Mayor of Huizhou City, stated, "Seongnam City and Huizhou City are leading innovation-driven industrial cities representing Korea and China," and expressed hope that "the two cities will further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation centered on technological innovation and research and development in the future."
The delegation also attended a series of events, including an export consultation meeting with 51 buyers from 16 countries; an exhibition featuring 50 booths showcasing medical devices, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital healthcare, and bio-healthcare products; as well as a business networking session.
They visited the mayor's office on the fourth floor of Seongnam City Hall to hold a meeting with Mayor Seong Sangjin, where they discussed expanding economic and industrial cooperation and ways to facilitate exchanges among innovative companies.
Mayor Seong Sangjin commented, "Huizhou City has strengths in electronic information, smart devices, and eco-friendly batteries, while Seongnam City excels in advanced industries such as bio-health and artificial intelligence (AI). Through mutual cooperation, both cities will open a future of shared growth. We will work to establish a results-oriented cooperation model."
Vice Mayor Duan Zhihui of Huizhou City responded, "Our long-standing friendship and cooperative relationship will further develop and create synergy for the advancement of new industries."
The Seongnam International Bio Healthcare Convention is a leading international event that brings together domestic and international bio-healthcare experts, companies, and investors. This year marks its eighth edition.
