Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 23rd that it has signed a "Business Agreement for Establishing a Mutual Cooperation System for Carbon Neutrality in the Transport Sector" with the Korea Intelligent Transport Systems Association (ITS Korea) and Bucheon Urban Corporation.
This agreement was initiated as Bucheon City was selected as the only demonstration hub city nationwide under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "Advanced Technology Development for Carbon Neutrality in the Transport Sector Reduction Strategy" R&D project.
Accordingly, Bucheon City will be responsible for administrative support, providing demonstration spaces, and operating a citizen participation group. ITS Korea will establish the living lab demonstration site and oversee service design and operation. Bucheon Urban Corporation will support the development of research outcomes and data integration cooperation.

In addition, over the next four years, the three organizations plan to quantitatively calculate greenhouse gas emissions using traffic data, expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and broaden citizen-participatory living lab (MyEcoTrip) services. Based on these initiatives, Bucheon City aims to establish itself as a national standard model city in the field of carbon neutrality in the transport sector.
Jo Yongik, Mayor of Bucheon, stated, "Bucheon City is collaborating with these two organizations with the goal of becoming a sustainable city where transportation and the environment are in harmony." He added, "We will build a data-based virtuous cycle for carbon neutrality, where citizens choose eco-friendly modes of transportation and those choices are rewarded with incentives."
Meanwhile, Bucheon City plans to accelerate the creation of a low-carbon transportation city that citizens can experience by linking its ongoing "Carbon Neutrality Response Platform Construction Project" to establish a foundation for managing greenhouse gas reductions in the transportation sector.
