The government has expressed its commitment to fostering offshore wind power as a national growth engine. It also plans to actively support onshore wind power by establishing an inter-ministerial task force, similar to that for offshore wind power.

On the morning of the 22nd, Kim Sung-hwan, Minister of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, held the first meeting with the wind power industry since the ministry's establishment at the Hangang Flood Control Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and gathered industry opinions to accelerate the adoption of wind power generation.

The meeting was attended by representatives from major turbine manufacturers such as Doosan Enerbility and Unison, as well as key equipment suppliers including Hanwha Ocean, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, and Seongdong Shipbuilding. Executives and experts from domestic and international developers such as SK Innovation&S, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), KREDO, and GS Wind, along with officials from wind power organizations, also participated.

During the meeting, Minister Kim stated, "The launch of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment is intended to lay the foundation for a rapid transition from a fossil fuel-centered carbon civilization to a decarbonized green civilization based on renewable energy." He added, "The ministry will move beyond the regulation-focused role previously handled by the Ministry of Environment and will focus on promotion, striving to become a leading ministry in the renewable energy transition as a key player in the green civilization."

Minister Kim also said, "Along with expanding the adoption of wind power generation, we will actively foster the related industrial ecosystem. Offshore wind power will be developed as a national growth engine through the successful establishment of new leading projects. For onshore wind power, an inter-ministerial task force led by the minister will be launched as soon as possible to resolve industry licensing issues through a one-stop process."

The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment announced that, based on industry feedback, it will promptly pursue the launch of an inter-ministerial task force for onshore wind power, support for licensing of new offshore wind power projects through an inter-ministerial task force, and the enactment of subordinate regulations under the Special Act on Offshore Wind Power.
