Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, pledged on the 22nd to nurture the newly opened "Gyeonggi Startup Bridge" as a hub for the third venture boom.
At the opening ceremony of the "Gyeonggi Startup Bridge" held at the G2 Block in the second Pangyo district of Seongnam City on this day, Governor Kim stated, "In 2002, South Korea overcame the IMF economic crisis through the first venture boom, turning crisis into opportunity and astonishing the world. Today's opening ceremony is not simply the launch of a new space, but marks the beginning of the era of the second Pangyo and a historic starting point for a new leap forward for Korean startups."
He continued, "Now, as the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, I aim to create a startup paradise and ignite the third venture boom. I want to begin the dream of a startup paradise and an economic leap for Korea right here in Gyeonggi Province, the center of industry and innovation, and lead the nation forward."
He added, "Gyeonggi Province will ensure that the Gyeonggi Startup Bridge becomes the hub of the third venture boom and a stage for a 'pleasant rebellion' in the Korean economy. We will expand and solidify the foundation for imagination and creativity so that startups and investors can grow together, create synergy, and achieve a quantum leap toward becoming one of the world's top four global venture powers."
The Gyeonggi Startup Bridge is a 129,324-square-meter integrated space for full-cycle startup support, established within the G2 Block of the second Pangyo district.

The Gyeonggi Startup Bridge was built by a consortium formed by Soulbrain (semiconductors, displays, secondary batteries), Cosmecca Korea (cosmetics), HFR (wired and wireless information and communication devices), and Woowa Brothers (online delivery platform). Construction began in 2022, and since September this year, more than 200 startups and over 20 support organizations have started moving in.
Resident companies receive customized support for each stage of growth, including free office space, collaboration with large and medium-sized enterprises, investment attraction presentations (IR), and mentoring.
With the opening of this facility, Gyeonggi Province plans to strengthen global cooperation and investment linkages to establish a virtuous cycle in which startup innovation leads to youth job creation and future growth.
Meanwhile, through the "Pangyo+20 Project," Gyeonggi Province aims to enhance interconnection among 26 Gyeonggi Startup Innovation Spaces across eight regions, providing broad and systematic support to startups throughout the province.
The "Pangyo+20 Project," announced by Governor Kim Dongyeon in October 2023, aims to create 660,000 square meters (200,000 pyeong) of startup space at more than 20 regional hubs centered around Pangyo Techno Valley and nurture 3,000 venture startups (emerging companies).
