Samcheok City in Gangwon Province is hosting the 'National Dokdo Photo Exhibition' until December 14, under the supervision of the Isabu Memorial Project Association (Chairman Choi Seokmin), to carry on the pioneering maritime spirit of General Isabu of the East Sea and to widely promote the historical significance of Dokdo.
This photo exhibition will be held for approximately 90 days as a touring and permanent exhibition at major subway stations in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Gangnam Station and Jamsil Station, as well as at the Samcheok Port Tsunami Safety Tower. The exhibition will showcase the beautiful natural scenery of Dokdo, historical materials, and creative photographic works by citizens and artists.
In particular, to mark 'Dokdo Day' on the 25th, a special promotional event will be held at the Seoul exhibition venue to remind citizens that Dokdo is Korean territory, and to actively promote Samcheok as the departure point for General Isabu's expedition to subjugate Usan-guk.
A city official stated, "The National Dokdo Photo Exhibition is a meaningful event that raises awareness of Dokdo's precious value and commemorates the pioneering spirit of General Isabu," adding, "Through this exhibition, we aim to establish Samcheok as the center of East Sea maritime history and culture, as well as a symbolic city for the protection of Dokdo."
