On the 21st, President Lee Jae-myung criticized the medical reform pushed by the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, stating, "Because an issue directly linked to the lives of the people was unilaterally forced through without sufficient policy consideration or consultation, the damage suffered by the public was beyond description."
At the Cabinet meeting held at the Yongsan Presidential Office on this day, President Lee said, "I would like to express both my gratitude and my apologies to the people who experienced great inconvenience." His remarks came as the highest-level health and medical crisis alert, which was issued due to the medical crisis during the previous administration, was lifted on the 20th, and the emergency medical system was also concluded after one year and eight months.
President Lee stated, "I ask each ministry to ensure that such mistakes are never repeated by preparing a roadmap to strengthen essential regional public healthcare based on communication, participation, and trust. Medical reform has not been abandoned or given up; rather, we must prepare again on a new foundation and in a rational direction."
He also emphasized, "We need to establish reasonable measures through a sufficient process of public discussion and pursue them in a stable and sustained manner. Through a systematic and scientific approach, we must also build social consensus on ways to train medical personnel."
