Masan Hapjeong-dong Youth Street Beer Festival Concludes with Enthusiastic Participation
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province announced that the "2025 3rd Masan Hapjeong-dong Youth Street Beer Festival," held around Masan Hapjeong Old Street and Daehyeon Free Mall, concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from citizens, filling the streets with youthful energy and the vibrancy of the alleyways.
The festival, held on October 18, was a traditional market celebration organized by the Hapjeong-dong Commercial District Revitalization Council, which was formed by four traditional markets in the Hapjeong-dong area: Hapjeong-daero Shopping Street, Hapjeong-dong Shopping Street, Hapjeong Old Street Market, and Hapjeong-dong Underground Shopping Street (Daehyeon Free Mall Changwon Branch).
On this day, the Daehyeon Free Mall area was energized by a variety of citizen participation programs. Free beer tasting tickets, a lucky roulette, and a multicultural food bazaar drew both local residents and foreign visitors, with many expressing that "the alleyways of Hapjeong-dong have come alive again."
In particular, the opening "beer toast" performance heightened the excitement with cheers and laughter, officially kicking off the festival. This was followed by citizen-participation events such as "beer chugging contests," "beer can stacking," "karaoke challenges," and "random dance play." The festival atmosphere became even more heated as citizens took the stage to participate and cheer each other on.
The main stage event, "A Glass of Youth Concert," featured performances by female trot singer Min Young-a, the real performance group Baekpro, and Shin Nara, a singer from "Tomorrow is Miss Trot." At "A Glass of Youth Night" with a DJ, citizens sang and danced together, turning the street into a vibrant stage.
The "Masan Hapjeong-dong Youth Street Beer Festival" was first held in 2019 but was suspended for a time due to COVID-19. After resuming with its second edition in 2024, it has now reached its third edition this year, establishing itself as a leading citizen-participation festival aimed at revitalizing the local commercial district.
Park Jin-yeol, Director of Economic and Employment Affairs, stated, "The Hapjeong-dong Beer Festival is not just a festival, but a 'living commercial district recovery project' that brings citizens back to the alleyways. We will continue to support warm-hearted festivals where local merchants and citizens can smile together."
