Intensive Inspection of Fire and Electrical Safety Management

Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on the 16th that it had conducted a joint fire safety inspection of large construction sites together with the Goyang Fire Station on the 14th.

This inspection was carried out as part of proactive fire safety management measures aimed at preventing accidents at large construction sites.

The inspection targeted two sites within the Wondang District 1 housing redevelopment project, which were selected as large-scale construction sites with extensive welding, cutting, and other hot work operations. The Goyang City Safety Management Advisory Group also participated in the inspection, conducting a comprehensive review of safety management in areas such as fire protection systems and electrical facilities.

The main inspection items included: △ the status of safety management for hot work such as welding and cutting; △ the management of electrical facilities and measures to prevent electric leakage; △ the availability of fire extinguishers and fire protection equipment at the site; and △ the assignment of safety managers and implementation of safety education. Any issues that could be immediately addressed were rectified on site.

Since a moment of carelessness at a construction site fire can lead to significant loss of life and property, the city plans to continuously strengthen its preventive safety inspections and manage fire risk factors at construction sites through ongoing cooperation with the fire station.

A city official stated, "We will continue to conduct regular and ad hoc joint inspections of major large construction sites in the area to create a safe urban environment where citizens can feel secure."
