Daegu City will host the "2025 Daegu Youth Week" over two days, from October 18 to 19, in the Dongseong-ro area (from CGV Daegu Hanil to Dongseong-ro 28 Art Square to the former Central Police Box).
Since Daegu City first introduced "Youth Week" in 2015, the city has led the nationwide expansion of the initiative, especially with the enactment of the "Framework Act on Youth" in 2020. Now in its 11th year, Daegu Youth Week has grown beyond a local event to become a national platform for youth policy and cultural exchange.
This year’s festival carries the slogan "Youth Advance (靑春進擊)," delivering a message of encouragement for all generations to share their stories of youth and move forward together. By incorporating retro sensibilities, the festival is designed as an intergenerational event that can be enjoyed not only by young people but also by middle-aged and older generations.
Key programs include a youth dance competition and song festival, youth talk show, youth carnival, Dalbit Golden Bell, Youth Stamp Tour, and an awards ceremony for participating booths, among many other diverse activities.
On the main stage in Dongseong-ro, "Street Battle & Youth Singers" will feature youth dancers and vocalists competing for top honors. Winners will receive prize money and the opportunity to perform during the opening of the closing ceremony.
On October 18, there will be a "Youth Talk Show" featuring young activists from the music, space, and entrepreneurship sectors. On October 19, "Youth Freelancer Performances" and the "Youth Carnival" will take place, filling Dongseong-ro with the passion of youth.
Throughout the festival, more than 40 experience booths will be set up across Dongseong-ro. Visitors can enjoy a variety of exhibitions and hands-on activities, such as an inner thoughts exhibition, collage making based on the 24 solar terms, urban ecosystem tattoos, upcycled ring making, a youth policy timeline exhibition and archiving zone, freelancer open market, and a youth gymnasium.
The opening ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on October 18 at Dongseong-ro 28 Art Square. The festivities will begin with a musical performance themed around youth stories, followed by the official ceremony, recognition of contributors, a celebratory performance by popular singer Lee Jaehoon, and a retro night dance party to further energize the festival.
This year, the festival will introduce a "kiosk check-in (QR bracelet issuance)" system to enhance convenience for participants. By receiving a QR bracelet at the on-site kiosk, attendees can easily participate in booths, enter events, and access program information using their smartphones.
Promotional leaflets will also be available, providing a digitally integrated festival experience that connects online and offline, ensuring that people of all generations can enjoy the event with ease.
Kim Jeonggi, Acting Mayor of Daegu, stated, "This year’s Youth Week will be an open festival where not only young people but all generations can come together and enjoy. I hope many citizens will visit the site and share in the passion and vibrancy of youth."
