Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on October 15 that it has launched the smart donation service 'Nanuni Happiness' from October, allowing citizens to easily and conveniently make donations in their daily lives through the local currency platform.
The newly introduced service enables citizens to make simple donations via the Gyeonggi Local Currency app without any separate procedures. By expanding the function of local currency, which promotes local consumption, to include the spread of a donation culture, the city has created an environment where anyone can participate in giving easily and without burden.
'Nanuni Happiness' operates by allowing users to select a recipient from among the stories of neighbors introduced in the 'Donate' menu within the Gyeonggi Local Currency app, and then click 'Donate.' After the fundraising period ends, the donations are delivered to the selected recipients.
Participants can check their donation history in real time through the app and, after the fundraising is complete, can also write a review. In addition, they are eligible for income tax deductions through donation receipts issued by the Community Chest of Korea.
Mayor Bang Sehwan stated, "With the 'Nanuni Happiness' service, the threshold for participation has been significantly lowered, as donations can now be made easily and conveniently through the local currency app," adding, "I hope many citizens will join in sharing and, true to the service's name, find happiness through giving."
Meanwhile, the city plans to expand local welfare funding through the year-end fundraising event 'Hope 2026: Gwangju Happy Through Sharing' in December. The new Gyeonggi Local Currency donation service will operate year-round as a platform where donations can be made at any time.
