"Marret Anne Sara" Exhibition
Hyundai Motor Company announced that, as part of its long-term partnership with the Tate Gallery in the United Kingdom, it will host the exhibition 'Hyundai Commission: Marret Anne Sara: Goavve-Geabbil' from October 14, 2025 (local time) through April 6, 2026.
The 'Hyundai Commission' is a long-term partnership project established in 2014 between Hyundai Motor Company and the Tate Gallery to support the development and popularization of contemporary art. It is an annual exhibition project that presents new works each year at the Turbine Hall, the large-scale exhibition space at Tate Modern.
This year, Marret Anne Sara is participating as the tenth artist for the Hyundai Commission. Marret Anne Sara is a member of the indigenous Sami community, which has lived across the Sapmi region encompassing Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. She has presented sculptures and installations that highlight the reciprocal relationships between animals, land, water, and humans, using materials and methods closely related to the Sami ecosystem and lifestyle, particularly reindeer herding.

Through this exhibition, the artist sheds light on the ecological issues facing Sami society today and explores the 'interconnectedness and coexistence of all living beings,' which is central to Sami indigenous culture.
In particular, the exhibition's title, 'Goavve-Geabbil,' combines the names of the main works and symbolically encompasses the accumulated knowledge and practices of indigenous peoples, gained through unrestricted interaction with animals and nature amid the various environmental changes faced by modern society.
This exhibition is curated by Helen O'Malley, International Art Curator at Tate Modern, and Exhibition Assistant Hannah Gawrylewski.
A Hyundai Motor Company representative stated, "We hope that this Hyundai Commission exhibition, which focuses on the value of coexistence, will serve as a platform to discover wisdom for a sustainable future for humanity."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Company recently extended its existing partnership with the Tate Gallery through 2036 and plans to continue supporting the 'Hyundai Commission' as well as the 'Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational.'
The 'Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational' has supported the Tate Gallery in presenting exhibitions and programs that reflect diverse art histories from around the world from a global perspective, through broad international exchanges and academic events with experts.
