Three Defense Affiliates to Host "Future Tech Forum," Showcasing Korea’s Defense Competitiveness
Hanwha Qcells and Microsoft to Present AI-Based Energy Optimization Technology
Hanwha Group is making an all-out effort to support the successful hosting of the "2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit," which will be held in Gyeongju at the end of this month. As this is a national event, Hanwha plans to mobilize its full technological capabilities and resources to provide support.
On October 14, Hanwha Group announced that it will participate as an official sponsor of the APEC Summit and present a fireworks and drone show at the gala dinner scheduled for the 31st. During the event, approximately 50,000 fireworks and more than 2,000 drones will light up the night sky over Gyeongju. Hanwha will handle not only the production of the fireworks and drone show, but also provide comprehensive support for related operations, including safety and environmental management. The performance will combine aerial and water-based drone displays utilizing ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and media art to depict "Korea as a cultural powerhouse, inheriting a thousand years of Silla tradition and moving toward the future."
Hanwha will also participate as the Diamond Sponsor of the "APEC CEO Summit," hosting the "Future Tech Forum" in the defense sector. On October 27, Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems, and Hanwha Ocean will jointly hold the "Hanwha Future Tech Forum: Defense Industry" at the Gyeongju National Museum, where they will introduce the competitiveness of Korea’s defense industry to domestic and international military and defense officials. The forum will discuss changes in the global battlefield environment, the impact of future technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) on the defense sector, and the role and cooperation strategies of the defense industry for sustainable peace. Hanwha Qcells will deliver a keynote speech at a CEO Summit session on the theme of "Eco-friendly Energy for Sustainable Growth." At this session, Hanwha will introduce "energy optimization technology based on data standardization and agentic AI operations," which is being jointly developed with Microsoft (MS).
As an official sponsor, Hanwha Group has also strengthened its promotional activities to raise public interest. The group has incorporated the APEC partnership logo into its advertising videos, which are currently being shown via digital outdoor advertisements at Seoul Station, Gyeongju Station, and Gimhae Airport, as well as on KTX cabin screens, and LED displays at the CEO Summit and forum venues. In addition, Hanwha has installed kiosks at the Gyeongju Arts Center, the venue for the CEO Summit, to showcase its sustainable vision and technological solutions to participants, including world leaders, global CEOs, and session speakers, promoting the group’s advanced technological capabilities.
