"Brother Went to Cambodia, Now Out of Contact" Missing Person Report Filed for Man in His 20s

As cases of South Korean nationals being kidnapped or going missing after departing for Cambodia continue to occur, police have launched an investigation following a report that a man in his 20s from Gangwon Province has gone missing after traveling to Cambodia.

According to Yonhap News Agency on October 13, "On June 10, the family of a man in his 20s, referred to as Mr. A, filed a missing person report in a region of Gangwon Province, stating that they had lost contact with their brother who had gone to Cambodia to earn money."

According to the police and Yonhap News Agency, Mr. A departed alone for Cambodia from Incheon International Airport at around 7 p.m. on June 8. He last spoke with his family the following day, after which all contact was lost. Three months later, on September 17, the family was informed through an acquaintance of Mr. A that he was safe. However, for about a month since then, they have again been unable to reach him.

The police have sent an official letter to the South Korean Embassy in Cambodia to notify them of Mr. A's disappearance and are currently tracking his whereabouts.
