The 2025 Seongju Gayasan Golden Field Grasshopper Festival, the representative autumn festival of Seongju County, will be held for two days from October 18 to 19 at the Suryun-myeon Suseong-ri Eoullim Madang (Suseong-ri area).
Held under the theme "Let's Jump! Let's Fly! Into Nature with Grasshoppers!", this year's festival will feature a variety of programs including eco-friendly rural experience activities, an autumn sports day, local livestock tasting, and agricultural specialty product exhibitions and sales.
The festival plans to offer unique experiences and abundant enjoyment for people of all ages through eco-friendly rural experience programs such as grasshopper catching, sweet potato digging, apple fishing, and catfish catching, as well as autumn sports day events like the baggy pants relay and pumpkin smashing.
In particular, this year features new programs such as the "Grasshopper Observation Center," where visitors can learn about the growth stages of grasshoppers, the "Treasure Capsule Hunt" to find hidden treasures underground, and the "Wooden Playground," all designed to provide children visiting the festival with new sources of fun.
Bae Donghee, head of the festival organizing committee, stated, "From developing new programs for festival visitors to decorating and preparing every corner of the venue, everything has been touched by the hands of local residents. I hope you come and fully enjoy the festival, which is filled with enriching programs and a wide variety of delicious foods."
Lee Byeonghwan, Mayor of Seongju County, said, "The Grasshopper Festival is truly a resident-led, eco-friendly rural experience festival that represents North Gyeongsang Province. This year, the public and private sectors have joined forces to develop new programs and offer a richer array of foods and attractions, making the festival even more fulfilling."
