All-Out SK Group AI Strategy on Display
Exhibition Scope Expands with Participation from Startups and Academia
SK Group announced on October 12 that it will hold the "SK AI Summit 2025" at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on November 3-4.
The "SK AI Summit" is SK Group's flagship event for sharing its comprehensive AI competitiveness-including semiconductors, energy solutions, AI data centers, and agent services-with domestic and international businesses and academia. It also serves as a forum to discuss the direction of AI technology and industry development with global big tech companies. Last year, more than 30,000 people participated both online and offline. This year, under the theme "AI Now & Next," the summit will explore both the present and future of AI.
This year's event will feature speakers such as SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Ben Mann, Co-Founder of Anthropic, Tim Costa, Head of Semiconductor Engineering at Nvidia, Kakao CEO Chung Shina, SK Telecom CEO Yoo Youngsang, and SK Hynix CEO Kwak Nojeong.
In his keynote speech, Chairman Chey will discuss "Executing Innovation Today (AI Now)" and "Preparing for Tomorrow's Leap (AI Next)," sharing SK's efforts over the past year to build an AI ecosystem and its future strategies to ensure AI has a positive impact on humanity. Previously, he emphasized the importance of introducing AI into manufacturing sites to improve productivity and quality, presenting "Manufacturing AI" as the direction for AI development in Korea.
Last year, he identified user-centric services, revenue models, energy, high-quality data, and semiconductors as the core elements necessary for AI proliferation, while also stressing the importance of global collaboration. This year, he is expected to present concrete solutions for building a sustainable AI ecosystem, noting that "AI needs to consume good data to grow" and that "85% of data center operating costs are electricity expenses."
This year's summit expands participation to the general public, allowing anyone interested in the AI ecosystem to attend. The exhibition booths, which last year mainly featured group affiliates, have been broadened to include startups, universities, and overseas companies.
Major affiliates such as SK Telecom, SK Hynix, and SK AX will showcase AI infrastructure, AI models, and AI transformation (AIX) technologies at the event. Global big tech companies will also display their latest AI technologies, offering opportunities to experience global AI trends firsthand in Korea. Startups participating in SK Group's accelerator program and university student developers will also join, with developer events such as the "Claude Code Builder Hackathon" being held as side events.
Meanwhile, SK Group will host the "Future Tech Forum AI," a side event at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit on October 28. Chairman Chey is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech on Korea's experience in building an AI ecosystem and its future vision. Other speakers and panelists include Ha Jungwoo, Senior Secretary for AI Future Planning at the Presidential Office, Matt Garman, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Choi Sooyoun, CEO of Naver, Kim Kyunghoon, Head of OpenAI Korea, Choi Yejin, Professor at Stanford University's Human-Centered AI Institute (HAI), executives from Meta, and Deloitte Asia's AI Leader. They will exchange views on the future of the AI ecosystem through speeches and discussions.
