When Architecture Meets Music... Classic Busan Presents Third 'HELLO Organ' Concert Resonating with Architecture and Acoustics

11 a.m. on the 10th at Busan Concert Hall
A Meeting of Organist and Architect

Can music and architecture truly harmonize? The answer to this question will be revealed as the resonance between architecture and acoustics fills the stage for the third time.

On October 9, Classic Busan announced that it will present the third performance in its introductory organ concert series with commentary, "HELLO Organ," titled "The Resonance of Architecture and Acoustics: The Organ That Moves the Soul," at Busan Concert Hall at 11 a.m. on October 10.

"HELLO Organ" is a commentary-based concert designed to help audiences unfamiliar with organ music easily approach both the instrument and its repertoire. This performance will feature organist Kim Jiyeon and architect Kim Jongjin, offering a new artistic experience where music and architecture intersect.

This concert goes beyond simple commentary, taking the form of an exploration into the close relationship between the organ and architecture. Much like the phrase "to build" an organ, the instrument breathes alongside architecture. Installed within buildings, the organ's sound changes depending on the space, structure, and materials, functioning as an architectural device in its own right.

The performance will introduce examples of organs in various architectural landmarks overseas, allowing the audience to directly experience, through music and commentary, how these two art forms resonate together.

The program will include: Bach's "Fantasia and Fugue in G minor" (BWV 542); Handel's "Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" (from the oratorio Solomon, HWV 67, Sinfonia); Liszt's "Liebestraum No. 3"; and Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition." These masterpieces, representing different eras and genres, will be presented with the organ's majestic sound and architectural insights, promising a unique and moving experience.

Organist Kim Jiyeon, a native of Busan, studied organ at the Freiburg and Stuttgart University of Music in Germany and has been active throughout Europe. She is recognized for her profound interpretations and diverse repertoire, and is currently engaged in both performance and teaching.

Concert guide Kim Jongjin, born in Busan, studied architecture in the United Kingdom and the United States, and is currently a professor at Konkuk University’s Graduate School of Architecture. He researches architecture and spatial arts, and continues to engage the public through various projects exploring the relationship between music and architecture.

Park Minjeong, CEO of Classic Busan, stated, "This performance will offer a sense of relaxation and resonance to start your morning," and added, "I hope you will experience firsthand how architecture and music meet and reverberate within everyday spaces."
