Saemaul Credit Union Opens 'MG Gallery' in Samcheok, Embracing Local Culture Kim In, president of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea (eighth from the left), is participating in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with attendees at the first exhibition marking the meeting of two worlds beyond financial institutions into the realm of art, held in the cultural city of Samcheok.

This is the second opening, following the launch at Hwaseong Credit Union in Gyeonggi Province on September 24, signaling the full-scale rollout of the credit union's initiative to create community-based cultural spaces.

The MG Gallery is an open art platform where local artists and residents can come together. It aims to be more than just an exhibition space, aspiring to become a "cultural enjoyment space in daily life." Designed so that anyone can freely visit, appreciate contemporary art, and relax, it is expected to establish itself as a new cultural landmark in the region.

The opening exhibition, themed "Meeting of Two Worlds: The Intersection of Collection and Creation," features works by renowned domestic and international artists such as Shim Moonseup, Yayoi Kusama, and Billy the Artist. The exhibition offers local residents an opportunity to experience high-quality culture and art, showcasing the diverse sensibilities and aesthetics of contemporary art.

Kim In, president of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea, stated, "I hope the MG Gallery becomes a place where local residents can naturally encounter culture in their daily lives," adding, "The credit union will continue to grow together with the local community and evolve beyond a community finance institution into a cultural platform."

The MG Gallery project by the credit union is a new attempt to bring together finance and culture. This trend, in which a local financial institution becomes a center for art and communication, demonstrates one aspect of the community's evolution into a 'cultural city in daily life.'
