Silla University RISE Project Group Operates Global Culture and Tourism Talent Development Program

Specialized Education and Experiential Programs
in Aviation Operation and Food & Culinary Arts

The RISE Project Group at Silla University (President: Heo Namsik) announced on October 3 that it had held educational and experiential programs tailored to the characteristics of each department to foster professionals in the global culture and tourism sector.

This program was designed for students in the Department of Aviation Operation and the Department of Food and Culinary Arts, providing practical learning opportunities outside the classroom such as specialized lectures, field trips, and industry experiences. The focus was on cultivating the competencies required by the global culture and tourism industry.

The Department of Aviation Operation invited current airline professionals to deliver special lectures on topics including domestic and international aviation industry outlooks, understanding the roles of pilots and air traffic controllers, and strategies for employment at international airlines. During the subsequent Q&A session, students demonstrated keen interest and further developed their visions as future aviation professionals.

Kim Kwangil, Head of the Department of Aviation Operation, stated, "Every year, we invite pilots and air traffic controllers who are active overseas to provide students with practical information," adding, "We are committed to nurturing talent not only for domestic airlines but also for employment at international airlines."

The Department of Food and Culinary Arts offered students opportunities to experience global food culture and strengthen their competencies in culture and tourism through activities such as attending food and restaurant industry exhibitions, understanding the latest global culinary trends, and networking with field experts.

Kim Miryung, Head of the Department of Food and Culinary Arts, said, "We have been strengthening student-centered experiential curricular and extracurricular activities," and added, "By connecting with domestic and international food and culinary industry sites, we will foster professionals with a global perspective."

Hwang Inju, Head of the RISE Project Group, commented, "This program was designed to enable students to acquire global culture and tourism competencies in real-world industry settings beyond the classroom," and continued, "We will continue to expand educational and experiential activities tailored to each department, nurturing culture and tourism professionals who can connect the local community with the world."
