Jeong Cheongrae: "Doing Our Best for Rebellion Resolution and Livelihoods"
Kim Byungki: "Listening to the People and Improving Measures"
On October 2, the Democratic Party of Korea announced, "We will focus on tasks and solutions for restoring livelihoods and normalizing the nation," as it moved to win public support ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
Jeong Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, "The Democratic Party's goal is the same as always: to ensure the continuity of the people's daily lives and to improve them compared to yesterday." He added, "To protect the daily lives of the people and enhance their quality of life, the Democratic Party will do its utmost to both resolve the aftermath of the rebellion and address livelihood issues. I hope this Chuseok will allow everyone to worry less about the country and focus more on their families and personal aspirations."
He continued, "Last week, the government issued a second round of consumer coupons," and added, "Discount support for agricultural and livestock products is also underway. I hope this will ease the burden of holiday shopping and provide significant help to small business owners."
Kim Byungki, Floor Leader of the Democratic Party, said, "Together with the government, we are implementing a 43 trillion won livelihood stabilization measure for ordinary citizens, vulnerable groups, small business owners, and the self-employed." He added, "All party members will visit the field to listen to the voices of the people and supplement livelihood measures accordingly."
Regarding the upcoming National Assembly audit starting on the 13th, after the holiday, he said, "This audit will reaffirm the Democratic Party and President Lee Jaemyung administration's determination and plans for ending the rebellion and restoring livelihoods," and emphasized, "We will thoroughly eliminate the remnants of corruption and policy failures left by the Yoon Sukyeol administration across the country."
He further promised, "We will ensure that the Lee Jaemyung administration does even better in areas where it is already performing well and quickly address any shortcomings. We will take the lead in realizing a productive and hard-working National Assembly."
The party also pledged to do its best to restore the National Information Resources Service, which has recently raised concerns due to the slow pace of recovery after a fire. Leader Jeong stated, "We will proceed with recovery efforts with full transparency," and reported, "The government has deployed about 700 recovery personnel and aims to fully restore the computer systems within four weeks."
Floor Leader Kim also noted, "The fire at the National Information Resources Service has caused significant damage to small business owners," and evaluated, "The Korea Post's move to directly purchase goods and waive fees to open up sales channels was a prompt and meaningful response."
The Democratic Party plans to accelerate judicial and media reforms after the Chuseok holiday, alongside efforts to revitalize the people's economy.

Leader Jeong emphasized, "I am personally pleased to fulfill my promise that people will be able to hear on the radio during their Chuseok journey that 'the Prosecutors' Office has disappeared into history.' After the Chuseok holiday, we will announce the final steps for prosecutorial reform, judicial reform bills, and measures to protect the public from false and manipulated information."
Immediately after the Supreme Council meeting, the Democratic Party leadership gathered at Yongsan Station in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to greet citizens returning home for the holiday. Since Yongsan Station is the starting point of the Honam Line, this move appears aimed at appealing to supporters in the Honam region.
Leader Jeong met citizens in the Yongsan Station waiting area, asked about their destinations, and shook hands. He promised them, "Have a joyful Chuseok, and our Democratic Party and the Lee Jaemyung administration will do our best."
To another citizen, he said, "Last Lunar New Year, you must have felt anxious and exhausted due to the rebellion, but now the voices of rebellion have faded, the economy is improving, and the dignity of our country is rising. I hope this year you can relax and enjoy a comfortable Chuseok."
When another passenger heading to Namwon said, "Good luck with prosecutorial reform," Leader Jeong responded with, "Good luck with prosecutorial reform," as well. He also took selfies with some citizens who requested photos.
Together with the Democratic Party leadership, Leader Jeong went down to the boarding platform and waved to passengers boarding the KTX bound for Yeosu Expo Station at 10:53 a.m., greeting them before waving toward the departing train.
