This special lecture series is being held once a month from March to November to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the department's establishment. It is operated with the voluntary contributions of participating experts and support from alumni. The lectures are delivered in a relay format by professionals in fields such as herbal medicine, pharmacy, and health nutrition, targeting current students in the department.

The fourth lecture was delivered by Choi Miseon, a licensed herbal pharmacist (Jin Pharmacy, Humanities Forest Social Cooperative at the Citizens’ Humanities School), under the theme "Enhance the Power of Your Nose: Understanding Socheongryongtang."

She explained both the traditional history of Socheongryongtang and its effectiveness for modern conditions such as rhinitis and air-conditioningitis. In particular, she logically discussed how decreased physiological function of the nose is a major cause of rhinitis and suggested lifestyle habits to maintain respiratory health.

She also introduced Socheongryongtang formulations available at pharmacies and over-the-counter medicines that can be used according to symptoms and constitution, engaging in a lively Q&A session with the students.

Lee Chaein (class of 2024, age 63), a student in the Department of Oriental Medicine Materials who attended the lecture, shared, "I was impressed by the fact that Socheongryongtang is the oldest medicine in human history, having been used for 2,000 years."

The Department of Oriental Medicine Materials at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology is the only two-year program in Korea specializing in herbal medicine materials. Currently, the department is strengthening its adult learner-focused curriculum and systematically operates practical education programs based on Korean medicine, including herbal teas, herbal preparations, traditional dietary therapy, and traditional physical therapy for comprehensive health management.
