Some cases involving the spread of malicious rumors about BTS and incidents of unauthorized entry into members' homes have been referred to the prosecution.
Big Hit Music, the group's agency, announced on the fan community Weverse on September 29 that "some of the criminal complaints filed last year were referred to the prosecution in July with a recommendation for indictment." The agency added that investigations into complaints filed this year are also proceeding sequentially, including summoning suspects through the execution of warrants.
Big Hit Music emphasized that acts of defamation, insult, and dissemination of false information online are subject to criminal punishment under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. The company also stated that it continues to file complaints against those who post malicious content, based on monitoring both domestic and international communities as well as fan reports.
Additionally, the agency revealed that some suspects involved in the recent attempted unauthorized entry into member Jungkook's residence have also been referred to the prosecution.
The agency stated, "We are actively cooperating with the investigation by reporting the intruders to the police and submitting evidence so that the investigation can proceed smoothly," and stressed, "Any act of accessing the artist's residence, leaking personal information, or invading privacy will be met with strict legal responsibility, including charges of trespassing and violations of the anti-stalking law."
Big Hit Music urged, "These illegal acts cause serious anxiety and distress to the artists, who are the victims," and requested, "Please respect the artists' privacy and safety to foster a healthy fan culture."
