On the 24th, MBC reported that on the 22nd, an intercity bus driver at Sejong Express Intercity Bus Terminal in Daepyeong-dong, Sejong City, unleashed abusive and violent language at passengers.
The incident began when the intercity bus, which was scheduled to depart at 8:25 a.m. that day, arrived at the platform 30 minutes late. Passengers either asked the driver about the reason for the delay or voiced complaints, but the driver responded with profanity. This bus was traveling from Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, passing through Sejong, and heading to Gunsan, North Jeolla Province.
One passenger said, "The bus driver shouted, 'You XXX bastards, if you’re late, just get on without complaining. Do you want to be even later?' I was so shocked that my hands were trembling at the time."
There was also a scuffle when an elderly passenger protested against the driver's abusive language.
However, the driver reported to the police, claiming that he had been assaulted.
The disturbance was resolved through police mediation, but the bus departed about 50 minutes later than scheduled without a change of driver. Some passengers had to get a refund and leave.
The bus driver admitted to his abusive language, telling MBC, "(One passenger) kept nitpicking and said, 'Just drive already.' I lost my temper and argued with that passenger."
The bus company stated that it would consider disciplinary action, such as a pay cut, if its own investigation confirmed any wrongdoing.
