Korea University of Technology and Education Leads the Way Toward "Zero Serious Accidents" in Partnership with Collaborators

Korea University of Technology and Education is accelerating efforts to prevent serious industrial accidents and create a safe workplace by establishing a close collaborative system with its partner companies.

The university is realizing its vision of a "safety-first campus" through comprehensive activities, ranging from holding safety meetings to providing education and nurturing talent.

On September 24, the university announced that it held a "Partner Companies' Meeting for Serious Accident Prevention" in the university headquarters' medium conference room with the representatives of on-campus partner companies such as S-1 Corporation, Chungil Express & Tourism, and Ssangyong Elevator.

At the meeting, President Yoo Gilsang shared the government's policy to reduce serious accidents and the university's implementation strategies, while directly listening to the difficulties and suggestions of the partner companies.

On the same day, the university also held a "Safety Meeting for Headquarters Expansion, Environmental Improvement, and Parking Lot Construction," where, as the contracting institution, it discussed with partner companies the safety measures for the construction site and plans to promote the "Safe Workplace Project." The university plans to proceed with the headquarters remodeling by the end of next year.

In addition, the university is conducting various educational programs to raise safety awareness. In August, it provided hands-on safety training to 35 university supervisors to increase vigilance on-site, and for students, it is holding the "2025 Risk Assessment Competition" to spread a culture of safety on campus, including laboratory safety.

Furthermore, the university is fostering professional talent by offering a minor in safety engineering and establishing graduate programs in industrial safety engineering and safety and environmental engineering.

The university is also focusing on training leaders responsible for industrial site safety by operating the Industrial Safety Policy Advanced Management Program (OASIS AMP).

President Yoo Gilsang stated, "The right to work safely is a fundamental right that every worker should enjoy," and added, "As an institution under the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Korea University of Technology and Education will take the lead in this great journey for safety."
