Earlier this year, during February and March, the city conducted both online and offline public solicitations for citizen-proposed projects. The process included eligibility screening by the committee, reviews by relevant departments, on-site inspections by the committee, and Q&A sessions with the proposers. Through the general meeting, the final projects were confirmed.

The participatory budget projects approved for next year consist of 35 citizen-proposed projects (1.1 billion won) and 193 citizen-requested projects (8.4 billion won), totaling 228 projects with a combined budget of 9.5 billion won.

Key projects include environmental improvements near the pavilion at the summit of Banseoksan Mountain and the distribution of electric propulsion devices for wheelchair users.

The budget for these projects will be included in next year's main budget proposal and will be finalized following the city council's review in November.

Shim Yeonbo, head of the Budget and Finance Division of Hwaseong City, said, "The participatory budget is meaningful because it reflects projects that citizens have directly proposed and selected in city administration," adding, "We will continue to do our best to ensure that citizens' voices are translated into policies that bring about real changes in daily life."
