A Variety of Hands-On Programs Offered
at the Lifelong Learning Center and Cheolmangsan-ro Area
Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province will host the "Gwangmyeong Lifelong Learning Festival" over two days from September 27 to 28 at the Lifelong Learning Center and the Cheolmangsan-ro area.
This event, now in its 22nd year, is themed "An Adventure Through Learning, Lifelong Learning Where Dreams Begin" and will feature a variety of citizen-participatory programs.
The festival is designed to allow participants to experience both learning and play in spaces reminiscent of theme parks, including: ▲Learning Adventure (Open Day School) ▲Green Village (Green Sharing Market) ▲Dream Stage (Celebratory Performances, Learning Club Performances) ▲Policy Playground (Lifelong Learning Policy Promotion and Experience Booths), among others.
This year, for the first time, the city will hold the Day School outdoors, which had previously only been held in indoor classrooms. Through advance registration, a total of 18 lifelong learning programs will be offered, including Minhwa painting, mother-of-pearl mobile making, perfume making, and mug making.
On September 28, the festival area will expand from the Lifelong Learning Center to the front of the Gwangmyeong Cultural Center, offering hands-on programs such as making beaded bracelets, succulent garden experiences, acrylic mood lamp making, digital drawing experiences, creating keychains with 3D pens, a psychological tarot zone, and a photo zone.
On the streets, there will be art performances such as balloon shows and magic mime, as well as one-minute caricatures, speed touch games, and pedal-powered rides. There will also be programs that people of all ages can enjoy together, such as a mobile stamp tour and a sports challenge.
The event venue will also feature food trucks, a senior cafe, an outdoor library, and a picnic zone.
Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, said, "This year's festival offers a variety of programs designed to maximize the joy of learning across generations," adding, "I hope many citizens will create special memories through this event."
