AI-Driven Apartment Landscaping Applied to Daewoo Engineering & Construction's Uijeongbu Complex

Daewoo Engineering & Construction announced on September 24 that it will introduce an artificial intelligence (AI)-based intelligent landscape design system. The company explained that by integrating various AI technologies into the design process, it aims to enhance both the creativity of landscape design and work efficiency.

To achieve this, Daewoo Engineering & Construction utilized generative AI models such as Claude and ChatGPT. Depending on the characteristics of each project, these AIs were used for tasks such as regional analysis, idea generation, and image creation and visualization. Designers were able to obtain intuitive and precise outcomes as a result.

These AI technologies are integrated and operated based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). MCP serves as a core platform that systematically and consistently manages the entire landscape design process by organically connecting the designer's intent with the analytical results from various AIs.

This system was first applied to the Topseok Prugio Park 7 complex, which the company is constructing in Uijeongbu. AI proposed the main concepts and initial design drafts for seven parks within the complex. Based on these, computer-generated visualizations were quickly completed. Previously, designers had to verbally explain their ideas to partner companies, which often led to limitations in conveying their intentions and inefficiencies in collaboration. The company explained that AI now provides refined design data, improving both work efficiency and the level of completion.

Residents will benefit from experiencing more creative and well-balanced landscaped spaces. Completing precise designs at the initial stage also makes it possible to maintain quality throughout the construction process. Daewoo Engineering & Construction had previously introduced an AI-based media pergola into its landscape designs as well.
